Self actualization is about the maximizing of your self. And your self is the entirety the sum of the following areas:
Physique, Focus, Business, Finances, Health, Social skills, Intellectual, Love etc.
When it comes to finances, the concept is simple: Investing now will result in having more money in one year compared to not investing. By investing now, you can take advantage of compound interest and earn even more in the future. This small effect will result in a massive effect in the long term:
The compound effect applies not only to finances, but also to all other areas of life.
- Starting to build muscles now will make it easier to burn fat in the future.
- Building a portfolio now will make it easier to win clients for your web design agency later.
- Learning to talk to random girls today will make it easier to pick up supermodels in a year.
- Once you build an audience of 10,000, it will be easier to gain another 1,000 followers tomorrow.
- Establishing a solid foundation of knowledge makes it easier to draw connections between subjects in the future. Without a foundation, grasping those connections is impossible.
Interconnected self actualization effects
Single-field relationships can have effects on other fields as well. Essentially, all your investments not only have an exponential effect in their own field, but also have an impact on other areas as well.
Think of these examples:
- It’s generally agreed upon that a wealthy, fit, and well-educated man has more opportunities in the dating market.
- Being healthy, having financial stability, and being in a stable relationship can make it easier to concentrate.
- If you have a skill, are a likable person, and have built an audience, it’s easier to create a business by selling your skills as a service to your followers, thanks to your leverage.
Besides the compound effect within each field, there is a positive network effect of self-actualization that results in exponential growth within exponential growth. While the impact of one relationship may seem limited, every increase in one field affects all other fields, which again affects all other fields, leading to an exponential increase in the overall network. The expontential growth of this network is in realty the self actualization.
What does it mean?
Every step you take in one area, such as increasing weight at the gym or reinvesting gains from an ETF, initially feed the exponential effect on that field. And in the next step, this exponential effect has again an exponentially growing effect over time on your entire self-actualization. Crazy.
What implications does it have?
- Cultivate urgency.
- Choose things that have a maximum network effect.
- Only focus on things that have a compound effect.
